Eaton is on Facebook. A lot better way to communicate than this web site. Sorry I haven't posted comments that were made on this site. I lost my log in information since I had to change guest book settings due to so much junk being posted on the other guest book. Hopefully you have a Facebook account and can add "USS Eaton DD/DDE510" so we all can stay in touch. Check it out

I wanted to let the USS Eaton shipmates know that Jerry Kimber, my husband, passed away this last Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012.  He always enjoyed the Eaton reunions and formed some great friendships.  He hasn't been doing well for several months now.  Thank you for all the great times and memories you all gave him.  Char Kimber

I was transferred fm navcomsta norfolk to USS Eaton in the fall of 1963 and a few days later set sail with the USS Enterprise and others to do a Med Cruise. We ran into a hurricane taking 30 to 40 degree roles and everyone was sea sick. What an experience. It's very difficult to explain the g forces  to others when climbing ladders  or being thrown fm side to side.  The really dangerous time was coming and going fm the radio shack to aft quarters in rough weather because there was no inner passageway. I'll never forget my time on the Eaton, which lasted just 1 yr.

Shipmates,

I served on the USS Eaton in 1961 to 1963 as a QM3

Is there anyone else out there from that time?

How do I get tied into this website?

Thanks,

Denny D....

For those who attended the Eaton reunion at the Kona Kai. Please go to link below and leave a comment on the Kona Kai. Please mention Kimberly, Andrea, and Chrissle. This will help their rating on trip advisor and show how much we appreciated all their help.

USS EATON REUNION ASSOCIATION

Ahoy Shipmates,

The two thousand twelve USS EATON SHIP’S REUNION draws near and the planning  has progressed to the next stage. The date has been set for 23-29 April 2012 and the event will take place at the  KONA KAI RESORT, SPA & MARINA, beautifully located at the very tip of Shelter Island, San Diego, CA and offering magnificent garden, marina and bay views.

We are looking at the idea of chartering an AMTRAK coach for the round trip journey from the East Coast to the West Coast. The fare will apply senior citizen rates; dining car privileges; sleeping car with bedrooms & roomettes and the various amenities that AMTRAK offers. Most important, we will travel in comfort and avoid the high price of gasoline and the rising plane fares. You will be able to board the train at key cities along North East & Western route.

We ask that you vote on this proposal to give us a quorum of shipmates, their spouses and guests so that we may apply the figure in our negation with AMTRAK for the best deal. If you require further information before making a decision, please call Tom Weiss @ 815 471-1878

_____ YES, _____persons wish to participate in AMTRAK  travel

_____ NO, I do not wish to participate in AMTRAK travel

Hello: I am glad to find this web page and hope you can keep it up; I know and appreciate that this is a huge task. I served from 1965 to 1966 as a Radarman.  I recently saw the USS Turner Joy in or North of Seattle, WA. I recall that ship from some of our tours.  Best regards, Milton A. DeJesus, Little Rock, Arkansas. p.s.  I am looking for information on Kenneth O. Ragland who came from Richmond, Virginia.

Hi Gang, I recently received an e-mail from Bruce Warnok  thanking for helping with his request for compensation with the V.A. I to have a hearing going on with the V.A. for a sugar related problem. This in itself is not important for it's a very minor problem. The problem is the Vetran's  Service Agency here in Binghamton also can find no record of the Eaton ever being in Viet Nam. Is there something we can do about this so the five and dime can have the honor that she deserves? God Bless, Your shipmate Eddie McHugh.
