For those of you who missed the reunion in Norfolk VA. My condolences. It was fantastic...The organizers, Weiss and Hines as well as many others gave the attendees a real bang up reunion. Never in the field of human endeavor have so many yarns been spun and stories overtold and above all credibility been strained as it was at this reunion. We owe a debt of gratitude to the organizers and we owe it all to our ship, the USS Eaton. Brian Kenedy, QM1 Bonita Springs, FL.

I served on Eaton from August of 1967 through her decommissioning on July 2, 1969, including her Vietnam tour, her return to Norfolk, the mission off Havanna, her reassignment to Philadelphia to train reservists. Following decommissioning, I was assigned as a Ships Sup in the yard at Philadelphia. I work as an attorney and arbitrator and I reside in Clarksville, Maryland. I am attending the upcoming reunion and would enjoy catch-up. Can someone email me the ship's sign in signal flags? Thanx.

I reside in Sharpsburg, Maryland. I was a GM2. I was aboard the USS Eaton from 1955 to 1957. I'm interested in a book that included pictures and ports of call, etc. that was published after the 1957 Mediterranean cruise. I was discharged from the service before the book became available. Anyone having any information on where I could find a copy please let me know. You can email me or contact me by mail at: Dale Lewis Sr. P.O Box 83, Sharpsburg, Maryland. 21782

My father, Edward J. Griffith served on the USS Eaton during WWII. My father was a 1st gunner on the Eaton and that he was the gunner who shot a Kamikazi that was targeting the Captains bridge. He came off the USS Eaton with the ships flag. My father passed away in 1964 from a brain tumor. If anyone has heard any stories about my dad or has pictures of him on ship I would love to share with you.

Hello, My father William D. Hardin served on the Eaton in the early 1950's (he was discharged in 1954). Dad recently passed and we don't know much about this time of his life. If anybody has any stories to share I would love it if you would please send them on to me. For those of you who remember him, I imagine he remained the same fun loving , opinionated man you once knew. Thank you for all you have done! Bill's daughter, Susan

Served on The Eaton from 1943 to 1946 when she was DD510. From Gadalcanal up through the Pacific Islands, Phillipines,Borneo,Saipan, Tinian all the way to Shanghai. I was a SOM1/c then. I am 82 now.Does any one remember getting our screws hung up in the anti-sub nets while on a shakedown after getting overhauled in San Francisco in 1944. Some of the officers spirited women aboard for that shakedown and the scuttlebutt was they brought the ship bad luck. We had to drydock again to clear screws.

I was aboard the Eaton March '56 until July '59. I was a FA when I went aboard and worked in the forward fireroom. When I left in July '59 I was a BT2 and still worked in the forward fireroom. My brother Ralph Lee was on the ship as well and left in 1969. He was a SA when he came aboard and a RD2 when he left the ship. He lives in Daphne, ALA and he retired as a OSCM. I retired in 1978 as a MAC and I live in Charleston, SC. I would like to hear from anyone who remembers us or has pictures.

Haven't gone to the guestbook in a while, and just to let everyone know, the reunion in Norfolk this year is going to be a hoot. Hope all you guys that haven't made it to one yet can come. Just think our old stompin' grounds, we can hit the strip, drink some 3.2 beer, chase some girls (if our wives will let us), just be kids again. Hope tosee you in Norfolk in October.
