My father Denam "Denny" Elledge was on the USS Eaton during WWII. He was friends with Mr. Geeslin who the blog says died a few months back. I will advise my dad he's passed. My dad is still living at 88 years young and is doing quite well. If anyone out there remembers him, I'm sure he would like to hear from you through me as he has no computer.

I was rescued from the Bay of Pigs beaches during April 1961. The Eaton saved my life as well as my uncle's life (rip) I was treated with great love by the crew members. I will never forget as long as I live. I still have a zippo lighter from the DDE510. Desi Sanchez, Brigade 2506. Hialeah GArdens, FL. God Bless you all.

I remember many a night on the bridge of the USS Beale talking with the bridge of the Eaton Via flashing light. It was the only way an SM could practice his trade. This was during the 1960-1962 years which included the Bay Of Pigs and The Cuban Blockade. Those are remembered times.

I was on the Eaton from 1958-1960. Had a lot of good times. I owe a lot to Tom Andrews, and Brian Kennedy. They taught me more in two months than I learned in a year in the reserves. Calvin Coin, Harold Wickus, "redlead," Dean, Gerry Smith, and Earl Coleman were a few of my shipmates during that time.

My father MM3 Don Stamper and my uncle MM3 Chuck Stamper both served onboard the USS Eaton in the late 50's. Uncle Chuck died several years ago after retiring the the U.S. Navy. My father retired from the U.S. Postal Service several years ago and still resides in Middletown, Ohio. I posted two pics from the Eaton and will be scanning more and posting them soon.

My dad, Lloyd Bates, served on the USS Eaton from 43-45 as a Fire controlman, second class, V-6. He passed away in 2003 from a stroke but left his family with many stories about his time at sea and his pride for his country and the US Navy. Does anyone remember him? Aliso Viejo, CA

Served aboard the Eaton from May 1960 until Feb 1961.  Flew off the fantail when stepfather passed away.  Would love to hear from Francis Thebeido (sp). Played music on the fantail many times.  Was in the FT gang right after most of the old gang left after a TB outbreak.  Harold Lawson was in the FT gang with me.  We went through boot together in Deigo.  Later saw him in New Orleans where he managed Hertz rental.
